Experience the beauty of Ilala Beach Lodge and our surrounds in true Mozambican style!
Nestled among ilala and coconut palms, 7 kms south of the coastal village of Inhassoro, you will find Ilala Beach Lodge…..
A true Mozambique experience in cool and secure comfort.
The lodge is available for rent and sleeps up to 18 people. They can also be bought by private owners or syndicates wishing to hold on to their own piece of paradise.
The A framed, reed and thatched lodges are on stilts and are built using natural local materials with wooden floors and furniture. Each main entertainment area is sea facing, has a deck and outdoor shower and self-catering kitchen, lounge and bar, some have satellite TV.
The bedrooms are individual A framed twin rooms, also sea facing, with en-suite shower rooms, mosquito nets and a private balcony. Lodges are fully equipped and serviced by caring staff. Bring your own groceries, mosquito repellent, sunscreen, clothing and a boat if you have one.
300m of sun-kissed beach fringes a turquoise sea for safe swimming and boat mooring. Opposite lies a group of 5 islands known as the Bazaruto Archipelago. They are Bazaruto, Benguerra, Magaruque, Bangue, and Santa Carolina, formerly called Paradise Island. This area, declared a national park in 2000, is an eco-sensitive area and we are dedicated to the conservation of this pristine environment.
There is so much to do here and we can assure you of an unforgettable holiday. Kids love it here!
Visit the fiddler crabs in the mangrove swamps or take a trip to Bartholemew Dias Lagoon where you can picnic, braai, catch a fish or buy crab. Santa Carolina is a convenient 10 km boat ride and we are 24 km from Bazaruto Lodge. Island hopping can be exciting, as there are many activities. You can take a Landrover trip to visit the crocodiles and flamingos on one of the many Bazaruto inland lakes. Scuba courses can be arranged for those interested. Diving and snorkelling here is amazing. You may chance upon humpback whales, the rare and mystical dugong, dolphin, whale shark, 5 turtle species (4 species breed on Bazaruto), coral gardens and fossil forests. Visibility is usually brilliant! 600 species of fish are recorded. This is also a bird-watchers haven with 164 species identified, including flamingo, pelican and sacred ibis. Just after the first rains butterflies abound in such surprising numbers as they migrate up the coast. A sight to delight any nature lover!
A photographers’ paradise and an inspiration to artists!
Fishing can be thrilling for those keen on catching dinner and we encourage tag and release for fish not intended for the pot. Big game fish recorded here are kingfish, dorado, wahoo, mackerel, bonito, sailfish and black, blue and striped marlin.
